A Traffic Management Plan (TMP) is a report detailing the work to be undertaken and the impacts the work will have on the general area. It also details how these impacts are to be addressed and may include a number of Traffic Control Plans (TCP).

The purpose of a Construction Traffic Management Plan (CTMP) is to ensure that the impacts of the construction works on the public domain, in particular with respect to the temporary interruptions to vehicular and pedestrian traffic, are considered by the proponent and reviewed by Council. The CTMP must ensure that public safety is maintained at all times and that wherever possible interruption to the use of public space is minimised. It outlines the traffic management procedures to be followed throughout the duration of the project from demolition, excavation, and construction.
A TMP/CTMP will usually be required for a Development Application or for a larger scale event/project.

No – All TMPs shall be prepared by a person holding a current NSW Roads and Maritime Services Design & Inspect Traffic Control Plans (Orange card).

Yes – Prior to commencing works, approval shall be obtained from the agency responsible for the care, control and management of the relevant roads. In addition to obtaining approval to work within the road reserve from the relevant Road Authority, other agencies such as emergency services, Police, public transport etc in the area may need to be notified in advance of the impending works.

Yes – Assessment fees may be applicable depending on the relevant road authority. Fees can vary from each road authority and may be applicable each time you submit a TMP.
